Although the benefits from the newly signed health care bill won't be available until 2014, implementation efforts are already underway. To better understand how the new law will be implemented and what it means for children, GCYF partnered with First Focus to host a webinar to examine the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (P.L. 111-148). 

The funders briefing focused on what’s next for health care reform and how foundations can work to ensure quality, access, and affordability of care for children.

Learning Goals:

• How the law will be implemented at the state and local levels

• What the new law means for children with special health care needs

• How passage of health reform will affect future grantmaking

• What happened in Congress and the fight to preserve hard won children's health coverage benefits

• How foundations worked to promote Health Insurance for all chidlren

• Why foundations continued to invest in policy and advocacy efforts even though passage of health care reform legislation seemed unlikely
