Policy and Advocacy Grantmaking Webinar Series - II. Measuring Impact: Advocacy Evaluation & Capacity Building

September 14, 2010 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM , Webinar

GCYF has again partnered with the Alliance for Justice to present a series of webinars on policy and advocacy grantmaking. The three part series will give foundations the opportunity to explore how foundations can engage in various types of advocacy and provide an overview of activities that constitute advocacy and public policy work; evaluate the impact of advocacy grants; and explore advocacy activities that foundations themselves can engage in. Each session in the series will be offered twice and will be presented in the context of a different issue effecting children, youth and families.

Are you interested in learning more about how to evaluate advocacy grants? Join GCYF and the Alliance for Justice for this training webinar to obtain the tools needed to evaluate advocacy grants and to assess whether a potential grantee has the resources to engage in policy and advocacy work. This training webinar will be discussed in the context of community change (September 2010 session) and economic security (March 2011 session).

Participants will learn about and discuss:

  • Key principles for evaluating advocacy work

  • Indicators for assessing advocacy capacity

  • Key concepts for evaluating community organizing work

  • The electronic Build Your Advocacy Grantmaking: Advocacy Capacity Tool Assessment and Evaluation Tools

  • The electronic Resources for Evaluating Community Organizing

Featured Speaker:

  • Carol Goss, President and CEO, The Skillman Foundation
